About Maggio Monteclarense

Maggio Monteclarense is the major multidisciplinary cultural review that transforms Montichiari into a widespread stage every spring. For over a month, from late April to early June, the town in the province of Brescia hosts historical re-enactments, concerts, theatre performances, conferences, exhibitions, and food festivals. Among the highlights: the medieval re-enactment, the Night of San Pancrazio, the 19th Century, and the 20th Century in the square. A journey through time and culture organised by the Municipality of Montichiari with many local associations.

A month of celebration for Montichiari

Maggio Monteclarense is the most important cultural review in Montichiari, in the Province of Brescia. For over a month, from late April to early June, the town comes alive with a packed calendar of events ranging from history to music, from theatre to gastronomy, involving the entire community and numerous local associations.

A journey through the centuries

The common thread of the review is the journey through time. It starts from the Middle Ages with Montichiari Medievale, the re-enactment of the medieval village with an old-fashioned market and historical pageant; it continues with 19th Century in the Square, featuring costume parades and vintage markets, up to the 20th Century, dedicated to the last century. The religious and civil heart of the review is the Night of San Pancrazio, dedicated to the patron saint, with music, theatre, and a fireworks display.

Culture, music, and tradition

Alongside the re-enactments, Maggio Monteclarense offers concerts, theatre performances, conferences, exhibitions in the city museums, and food festivals such as the Sagra dei Trivellini. Many events take place in the historic centre and at the charming Castello Bonoris. Organised by the Municipality of Montichiari, the review has become an identity event for the town and an attraction for visitors from all over the Brescia region.
