Two days of rustic flavors and craftsmanship in Piazza Dante, Naples
The Made in Italy Village is an event that brings the very best of Campanian agri-food and craftsmanship to the heart of Naples, in Piazza Dante. The initiative is a collaboration between Coldiretti Napoli and Casartigiani Napoli, two organizations that connect agricultural producers and artisan workshops from the Metropolitan City of Naples and the entire Campania region. For two days, the square—a pedestrian hub between the old town and the Vomero district—becomes an open-air market where you can buy, taste, and learn exactly how the products you take home are made.
The food and wine section is managed by the farms of Campagna Amica Campania, Coldiretti's network of farmers' markets. Farmers sell their goods directly, without intermediaries, using the zero-kilometer model that remains the hallmark of the event.
Alongside the sales, there are guided tastings and public masterclasses designed to highlight the short supply chain and explain how to recognize the true origin of what you buy: a topic on which Coldiretti has been campaigning for years regarding label transparency and the fight against the counterfeiting of Italian products.
The second soul of the village is dedicated to the arts and crafts, with Casartigiani Napoli stalls showcasing the productions that have made the city famous worldwide:
The artisans do not just display their work; they work in front of the public, allowing visitors to observe the techniques and tools of a craft passed down through generations.
The Made in Italy Village is also designed as a neighborhood festival. In the Avvocata district, just a stone's throw from Port'Alba and the National Archaeological Museum, the program alternates between workshops, children's activities, and live entertainment. The Giò Ferraiolo puppet theater is a major draw, bringing the 'guarattella'—the traditional Neapolitan folk performance—back to the square. The coincidence with Mother's Day added chocolate tastings and small floral gifts for visitors to the edition.
The Piazza Dante event has attracted thousands of residents and tourists, and organizers have announced that the format will be replicated in other major squares in the region. For Naples and Campania, it is a direct way to promote two fundamental pillars of the regional economy—agriculture and craftsmanship—by bringing them out of exhibition halls and into direct contact with the city.
Those passing through Piazza Dante during the village will find a real market, not a tourist trap: you can talk to the producers, taste before you buy, and discover workshops that would otherwise remain hidden in the alleys. It is also a useful opportunity for foreign visitors to understand in just a few hours what the expression Made in Italy truly means when applied to the Campanian territory.
The event occupied Piazza Dante for two consecutive days, Sunday, May 10th and Monday, May 11th, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The setup was divided into two complementary sectors: on one side, the Campagna Amica Campania gazebos with local farms, and on the other, the Casartigiani Napoli stalls dedicated to arts and crafts.
The coincidence with Mother's Day defined the edition: chocolate tastings and small floral gifts for visitors, while children followed the performances of the Giò Ferraiolo puppet theater. The program was completed by workshops, masterclasses, and guided tastings dedicated to zero-kilometer products and label transparency.
The organizers' assessment was extraordinarily positive, with thousands of attendees including residents, tourists, and families. At the end of the event, a new stage of the format was announced in another important square within the Metropolitan City of Naples.
Piazza Dante is located in the historic center of Naples, in the Avvocata district. The most convenient way to reach it is via Metro Line 1, Dante station, which exits directly onto the square. The area is pedestrianized and served by numerous bus lines; those arriving by train can get off at Napoli Centrale and take Line 1 (about 10 minutes). Driving is discouraged: the historic center is largely a ZTL (restricted traffic zone) and parking is limited to private garages in the area.
The stalls are open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on both days. Admission is free; you only pay for what you purchase at the stalls.
