About Bread Festival

In the heart of the Veneto Po Delta Regional Park, the historic waterside village of Loreo celebrates its Bread Festival every June. The star is panbiscotto, the traditional twice-baked bread of Loreo, around which revolve re-enactments of rural life, tastings, markets, cultural events, and music. Organised by the Pro Loco, it is one of the most distinctive food and wine festivals in the Polesine area.

The bread that tells the story of Loreo

The Loreo Bread Festival is the celebration that, every June, puts a symbol of the village at its centre: panbiscotto, the traditional twice-baked bread of Loreo, whose origins are lost in local historical memory. We are in Loreo, in the province of Rovigo, in the heart of the Veneto Po Delta Regional Park, a historic waterside village crossed by canals.

Between rural tradition and tastings

The festival celebrates the master bakers and the culture of bread with a program that combines:

  • re-enactments of rural life, such as the wheat threshing in the square;
  • tastings and food stalls along Via Roma;
  • markets and cultural moments;
  • concerts, performances, and side events.

A festival of the Po Delta

Organised by the Pro Loco of Loreo in synergy with the Municipality, the Bread Festival is an eagerly awaited event on the Polesine calendar, often accompanied by the food and wine event "Terra e Mare" (Land and Sea). Experiencing the festival means discovering the soul of a waterside village and a gastronomic tradition rooted in the rural civilisation of the Delta.

Bread Festival โ€” edition 2026

The 25th edition of the Loreo Bread Festival is expected in mid-late June 2026, around the third Sunday of the month, with panbiscotto as the star, re-enactments of rural life, tastings, markets, and cultural events. The detailed program is curated by the Pro Loco of Loreo.

For 2026, the 25th edition of the Loreo Bread Festival is expected, generally held around the third Sunday of June. The festival's structure is confirmed: panbiscotto at the centre, re-enactments of rural life such as threshing, tastings, markets, and cultural and musical events in the waterside village of the Po Delta.
