The great international festival of indigenous peoples and world traditions
Lo Spirito del Pianeta is a unique event in the Italian landscape: for over twenty-five years, it has fostered encounters between cultures and indigenous peoples from all over the planet. Born to give voice to ancient traditions and native peoples, the festival has found its home at Gerundium in Casirate d'Adda, a municipality in the Province of Bergamo bordering Milan, along the banks of the Adda River. Its message is contained in a simple yet powerful phrase: 'Not so many I's, but a great We'.
The heart of the festival lies in the delegations that arrive from every corner of the Earth. Among the protagonists of recent editions: the indigenous people of the Amazon with their purification ceremonies, the Masai with their savanna dances, the Maori with the collective experience of the Haka, the Maya and the Aztecs, the Native Americans, artists from the Congo, Tibetan monks engaged in the creation of the Sand Mandala, as well as groups from Madagascar, Nepal, South Africa, Iran, Ireland, and Scotland.
The program is extraordinarily rich: over 400 free events ranging from concerts to traditional dances, from ancestral rituals to conferences, up to interactive workshops and family activities. Added to these is a large holistic area dedicated to meditation and energy treatments. All this takes place in a traditional village with 4,000 square meters of covered space, allowing the festival to be enjoyed even in case of bad weather.
Strolling through Lo Spirito del Pianeta means traveling across continents: the international craft market brings together about 70 exhibitors from all over the world, while 11 ethnic restaurants offer the cuisines of different peoples. Great attention is also paid to sustainability, with almost 80% of waste destined for recycling. An event that, in addition to Casirate d'Adda, has over time brought its philosophy to other locations in the Bergamo area, confirming itself as an event of international appeal.
The 2026 edition of Lo Spirito del Pianeta takes place from June 18 to July 4 at Gerundium in Casirate d'Adda, with free admission. Promoted by Ivano Carcano and Simayiai Maasailady, it offers over 400 events including concerts, traditional dances, ancestral rituals, conferences, and workshops. Among the announced peoples: indigenous people from the Amazon, Masai, Maori, Maya, Aztecs, Native Americans, artists from the Congo, Tibetan monks, and groups from Madagascar, Nepal, South Africa, Iran, Ireland, and Scotland. The holistic area has been expanded, and the 11 international restaurants and 70 craft exhibitors of the world market are confirmed.
The festival spans over two weeks with a daily schedule of more than 400 free events. The typical structure of the days includes:
