Argentine tango takes over Salento

The Lecce Tango Fiesta is the festival that brings Argentine tango to the heart of Salento. In 2026, the event celebrates its second edition, taking place from May 28th to June 2nd across the towns of Monteroni di Lecce and Carmiano, in the province of Lecce. For a few intense days, the Salento region transforms into a grand, dancing embrace, attracting dancers, teachers, and fans from all over Italy and abroad.

The event is organized by ASD Accademia Tango Tradición, the tango school founded and directed by Pamela Marmol and Emiliano Pilloni, under the patronage of the Municipality of Monteroni di Lecce. The goal is twofold: to celebrate Argentine tango as an art form and culture, while promoting Salento as a destination for international cultural events.

Milongas, workshops, and world champions

The Lecce Tango Fiesta program blends educational sessions with spectacular performances. The days are marked by exclusive milongas—dance evenings where participants dance until late at night—as well as live shows, international performances, and workshops and masterclasses led by world-famous instructors. Every evening, Monteroni and Carmiano come alive with music, dance, and performances in an elegant and engaging atmosphere.

Guests of honor for the 2026 edition are world tango champions Aldana Silveyra and Diego Ortega, among the most acclaimed and awarded couples on the international scene, who will headline performances and workshops reserved for participants. Their presence confirms the festival's ambition to become a benchmark event for Argentine tango in Southern Italy.

A bridge between Buenos Aires and Salento

Argentine tango is more than just a dance; it is a culture of music, poetry, and connection, born in the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
