The distributed photography festival that transforms Trieste into an open-air gallery
Le Vie delle Foto is a unique festival of its kind: instead of concentrating exhibitions in a single venue, it disseminates photographs throughout the historic center of Trieste, transforming bars, historic cafes, restaurants, shops, galleries, and symbolic city spaces into exhibition venues. The result is a large open-air photographic gallery, to be explored on foot following your own itinerary through the streets of the Julian capital.
Each edition brings together over a hundred photographers from Italy and around the world, who exhibit their free-theme projects. Due to its size and distributed format, Le Vie delle Foto is considered the largest collective photography exhibition in Northern Italy, a now-established event for contemporary photography.
Founded in 2011, the festival takes place over an entire month, during which visitors can build their own itinerary, discover the exhibited works, and often meet the authors directly. Among the most popular initiatives are the guided tours, which allow visitors to get to know the photographers and the exhibited projects accompanied by a guide.
Le Vie delle Foto enhances both photography and the urban fabric of Trieste: by exhibiting in local businesses and shops, the festival supports commercial establishments and invites visitors to rediscover corners and atmospheres of the city. An original way to experience culture, where art meets daily life and the beauty of Trieste.
The 14th edition of Le Vie delle Foto animates the historic center of Trieste for the entire month of April 2026. Over a hundred photographers from around the world exhibit their projects in historic bars, cafes, shops, and exhibition spaces in the city, in what is considered the largest collective photography exhibition in Northern Italy. Among the most popular initiatives are the guided tours on Saturday, April 11th (morning 10:00 AM-12:30 PM and afternoon 4:00 PM-6:30 PM) to meet the photographers and discover the works on display.
The complete program with the map of venues and the list of photographers is published on the official website leviedellefoto.it.
