About Le storie

Every Thursday throughout the winter, the Albano Tomaselli Civic Space in Strigno—a village within Castel Ivano in the Valsugana valley—hosts "Le storie". This lecture series is dedicated to the history, art, and traditions of Eastern Trentino. Organized by the Circolo culturale Croxarie with free admission, the event invites researchers, historians, and scholars to share the valley's heritage with the public, spanning from its Roman roots to the 20th century.

Le storie: local history told in Strigno

Le storie is the winter lecture series organized by the Circolo culturale Croxarie in the village of Strigno, part of the Castel Ivano municipality in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every Thursday, from the heart of winter until the beginning of spring, the Albano Tomaselli Civic Space opens its doors for meetings with historians, researchers, and local scholars. Admission is always free.

An appointment with the memory of Valsugana

Founded to promote research into local history, the series has become a staple of the cultural calendar in the lower Valsugana valley. Each edition offers a cycle of lectures ranging from Roman archaeology to modern history, from Trentino art to vintage photography, and from prominent political figures to archival documents. The common thread is always the deep bond between the community and its past.

The Circolo Croxarie and the local area

The Circolo culturale Croxarie, founded in 1990 in Strigno, is a founding member of the Valsugana Ecomuseum Association and manages significant memory preservation projects, including the "Istantanee di comunità" (Community Snapshots) photographic archive and a digital library dedicated to Eastern Trentino and the Tesino area. "Le storie" was born from this mission: to return the richness of its roots to the community through rigorous yet accessible storytelling by experts.

Where it takes place

All meetings are held at the Albano Tomaselli Civic Space, in Piazzetta Luigi Carbonari in Strigno, on the ground floor of the municipal library. The series is produced in collaboration with the Valsugana Ecomuseum, the Municipality of Castel Ivano, and the Albano Tomaselli Municipal Library. It is the perfect opportunity for those visiting the Valsugana in winter who wish to learn more about the history and identity of this corner of Trentino.

Le storie — edition 2026

The 18th edition of "Le storie" took place every Thursday from February 5 to March 12, 2026, at the Albano Tomaselli Civic Space in Strigno. Six meetings curated by Massimo Libardi, dedicated to the "Der Brenner" magazine, the Romanization of Trentino, winter sports photography, the political thought of Alcide De Gasperi, Trentino art, and the notarial archives of the Valsugana.
