The historic spring fair in Lavis, one of the most traditional events in Trentino
The Lazzera Fair is one of the oldest popular events in Trentino-Alto Adige. Its roots date back to 1702, when the fair was held in the San Lazzaro area on the outskirts of the town, dedicated to the trade of livestock and agricultural products. The local dialect name "Lazzera" actually derives from this historic location. Today, the fair takes place in the heart of the Municipality of Lavis, winding through the streets and squares of the historic center, and is considered the second most important fair in Trentino after the historic San Giuseppe Fair.
For one full day, the village transforms into a massive open-air market: over 300 stalls offer all kinds of goods, from clothing and accessories to local products and ornamental plants. The craft market, dedicated to handmade creations and unique items, is located on Via dei Colli and in the courtyard of the Don Grazioli elementary school. In recent editions, the fair area has been expanded to include Via Carlo Sette and Piazza dei Caduti di tutte le guerre, bringing some of the stalls back into the historic center.
The beating heart of the event is AgriLazzera, an area entirely dedicated to the agricultural world, set up in the courtyard of the Cantina LaVis in collaboration with the Club 3P. Here, visitors can admire agricultural machinery and equipment, plants and seeds, farm animals, and local products, in a direct nod to the fair's rural origins. The festivities begin on the eve, Saturday, with a food and wine stand run by Club 3P accompanied by musical entertainment.
The day is enlivened by live music: the Lavis Social Band performs in Piazza Manci and Piazzetta degli Alpini, while the Youth Instrumental Group plays in the garden of Casa Pezcoller. For families and children, there is a funfair set up in the town squares. The fair is also an opportunity to discover the beauty of Lavis, such as the charming Giardino dei Ciucioi, a 19th-century vertical garden, and the temporary exhibitions hosted at Palazzo de Maffei.
Every spring, the Lazzera Fair attracts thousands of visitors from across the Autonomous Province of Trento and the surrounding valleys, confirming its status as a defining moment for the Lavis community. Between the stalls, the aromas of local specialties, and the sounds of the band, the fair weaves together commerce, farming tradition, and social life in one of the most anticipated days of the local calendar.
The 322nd edition was held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, preceded on Saturday, March 21, by the opening of the Club 3P food and wine stand at Cantina LaVis. With over 300 stalls, the event area was expanded to include Via Carlo Sette and Piazza dei Caduti di tutte le guerre.
Saturday, March 21, 2026: from 4:00 PM, opening of the Club 3P food and wine stand at the Cantina LaVis courtyard, with musical entertainment.
Sunday, March 22, 2026: over 300 stalls along the streets of the center; craft market on Via dei Colli and the Don Grazioli school courtyard; AgriLazzera at the Cantina LaVis courtyard; concert by the Social Band in Piazza Manci and Piazzetta degli Alpini; performance by the Youth Instrumental Group in the garden of Casa Pezcoller; funfair; "From the Alps to the Alps" exhibition at Palazzo de Maffei.
Lavis is located a few kilometers north of Trento, along the Brennero state road. By car: take the San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona (A22) or Trento Nord motorway exit. By train: Lavis station on the Trento-Malé line or Trento station with a connecting bus.
Access to the fair and the stalls is free. Food and wine stands and funfair attractions are available for a fee throughout the day.
During the fair, the historic center is closed to traffic: we recommend reaching Lavis by public transport or using the peripheral parking lots. Don't miss a visit to the Giardino dei Ciucioi.
