About Lampedusa Blue Experience

Lampedusa Blue Experience is an event dedicated to the sea, environmental education, and the culture of sustainability, hosted at Spiaggia della Guitgia in the municipality of Lampedusa and Linosa (Agrigento province). Promoted by the revitalized Pro Loco of Lampedusa and Linosa in collaboration with Marevivo and the Shipowners' Association, the initiative engages students, families, residents, and tourists through open-air workshops, educational games, and discussions on marine biodiversity and Protected Marine Areas. It is an event that turns the island into a widespread laboratory for the protection of the Mediterranean.

Lampedusa Blue Experience: the sea at the heart of it all

Born from the vision of the revitalized Pro Loco of Lampedusa and Linosa, the Lampedusa Blue Experience is an event entirely dedicated to the sea, environmental education, and the culture of sustainability. Set on the stunning Spiaggia della Guitgia in the municipality of Lampedusa and Linosa (Agrigento province, Sicily), the festival has a clear objective: to bring new generations closer to discovering marine biodiversity and to foster an understanding of the environmental, cultural, and economic value that the marine ecosystem represents for island communities.

A collective project for the island

The initiative is promoted by the Pro Loco together with the Marevivo foundation and the Lampedusa Shipowners' Association, with the involvement of numerous local entities: the Pelagie Islands Protected Marine Area, FISA Lampedusa, Respire Science, the Municipality of Lampedusa and Linosa, and partners such as Caronte SpA. It is a collective project that focuses on the protection of the Mediterranean and the social, cultural, and environmental growth of the Pelagian community.

Between workshops, play, and knowledge

The program alternates between sessions dedicated to schools and days open to families and visitors. The Sea Olympics engage local primary school students in games, team challenges, and educational activities centered on cooperation and environmental respect, while the Blue Days transform the beach into an open-air laboratory focused on marine biodiversity, waste reduction, and the protection of coastal ecosystems.

  • Educational and recreational activities about the sea for children and teenagers
  • Informative workshops on Mediterranean biodiversity
  • Raising awareness about the role of Protected Marine Areas
  • Best practices for waste reduction and sustainability

Lampedusa, an outpost of the Mediterranean

Located at the extreme south of Italy, closer to the African coast than to Sicily, Lampedusa is a privileged observatory for the health of the Mediterranean. Its crystal-clear waters and the Pelagie Islands Protected Marine Area make it a symbolic place to discuss the sea, the environment, and the future. The Lampedusa Blue Experience was created with the ambition of becoming a permanent fixture in the island's calendar, capable of uniting residents, schools, and tourists around the culture of sustainability.

Lampedusa Blue Experience — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Lampedusa Blue Experience took place from May 29 to June 1 at Spiaggia della Guitgia, involving schools, families, citizens, and tourists in three days dedicated to the sea. Through the Sea Olympics, open-air workshops, and educational sessions on biodiversity and Protected Marine Areas, the event promoted by the Pro Loco, Marevivo, and the Shipowners' Association transformed Lampedusa into a widespread laboratory for environmental education and sustainability.

The 2026 Lampedusa Blue Experience was held from May 29 to June 1 at Spiaggia della Guitgia in Lampedusa. The event, promoted by the Pro Loco of Lampedusa and Linosa with Marevivo and the Shipowners' Association, had the sea as its absolute protagonist.

The festival opened with a day entirely dedicated to schools: students from the fourth and fifth grades of the "Luigi Pirandello" primary school participated in the Sea Olympics, featuring games, team challenges, and educational activities focused on cooperation and environmental respect. Over the weekend, the Blue Days opened activities to families and visitors, with open-air workshops on marine biodiversity, waste reduction, and the protection of coastal ecosystems.

The initiative was supported by the Pelagie Islands Protected Marine Area, FISA Lampedusa, Respire Science, the Municipality of Lampedusa and Linosa, and Caronte SpA. As Marevivo vice-president Fabio Galluzzo emphasized, "we can only truly protect what we know," confirming the educational value of the event.
