About La Mercatorum
On the trail of the Via Mercatorum
La Mercatorum in Alzano Lombardo owes its name to the ancient Via Mercatorum, the historic merchants' route that connected the plain to the Bergamo valleys. The non-competitive running race — a "tapasciata", as they say in dialect — retraces the paths and scenic roads of the area, in the province of Bergamo.
Four routes for everyone
The event offers four distances: 5, 10, 15, and 19 kilometers. While the shorter routes are suitable for families and walkers, the 19 km route is configured as a true trail running event, with about 750 meters of elevation gain, a long climb towards Lonno and the Castle of Monte di Nese, and a challenging final staircase.
Sport and community
Organized by ASD CamminAlzano, La Mercatorum is valid for the CSI championship and is one of the most popular spring running events in the valley. The start is open from the Palasport of Alzano Lombardo, in Piazza Papa Giovanni Paolo II.

La Mercatorum — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of La Mercatorum, the sixth, will be held on Sunday, March 22, in Alzano Lombardo. The non-competitive running race features an open start from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM from the Palasport, in Piazza Papa Giovanni Paolo II.
Four routes are available — 5, 10, 15, and 19 km — with the longest route presenting about 750 meters of elevation gain, a challenging climb towards Lonno and the Castle of Monte di Nese, and a final staircase. The event, valid for the CSI championship, is organized by ASD CamminAlzano.

How to get there
Alzano Lombardo can be reached from Bergamo along Val Seriana, also by the Valli tram (line T1). Start and finish at the Palasport, in Piazza Papa Giovanni Paolo II.
Times and fees
Open start from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Fee €3 without a souvenir, €6 with a souvenir (a small local cheese). Trail shoes recommended for the long route.
