La Befana va in Trenino is the Epiphany event that enlivens the historic centre of Castelfranco Veneto, in the province of Treviso. A rubber-tyred train takes children on pleasant mini tours of about ten minutes through the streets of the walled city, in a festive atmosphere that involves entire families.
The Befane and the sweets
Making the initiative special are two figures dressed as Befana, complete with brooms, who hand out sweets to all the children who board the train. A simple but much-loved formula, capable of attracting over a thousand passengers, both young and old.
A community celebration
The event is organised by the Pro Loco of Castelfranco Veneto with the patronage of the Municipality, in collaboration with the associations Dentro il Centro and Associazione Palio, and with the support of Dotto Trains. Admission is free, in line with the popular spirit of the event.
La Befana va in Trenino — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of La Befana va in Trenino, the second one, will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, in the historic centre of Castelfranco Veneto. The train will take children on mini tours lasting about ten minutes through the streets of the walled city, while two Befane with brooms hand out sweets on board.
The initiative, with free admission, is organised by the Pro Loco of Castelfranco Veneto in collaboration with Dentro il Centro, Associazione Palio, and Dotto Trains, with the patronage of the Municipality. On January 5th, a concert will also take place in the Church of San Giacomo Apostolo.

Castelfranco Veneto is reachable by train (lines from Venice, Padua, Treviso, and Bassano del Grappa) and by car from the SR53 Postumia. The train departs from the historic centre.
