Great international youth basketball in Lissone
For over three decades, during the Easter holidays, the JIT — Lissone Junior International Tournament, combined with the Galvi Trophy, has brought some of the best international youth basketball teams to Lissone, in the Province of Monza and Brianza. It is one of the longest-running and most prestigious youth basketball events in Italy, organized by the Associazione Dilettantistica Pallacanestro Lissone.
The tournament brings together twelve teams from various nations: alongside Italian teams, clubs from the United States, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, and Sweden compete. For many young athletes, it is an international showcase, followed by coaches and scouts, and an opportunity to engage with different playing styles and sporting cultures.
The matches are held in the city's main sports facilities: the Palazzetto dello Sport in Via Conti, the PalaFarè in Via Caravaggio, and the Palazzetto in Via Fermi. During the tournament days, these venues are filled with spectators, in a festive atmosphere that combines competitiveness and hospitality.
More than just a competition, the JIT is a defining event for Lissone and for Lombardy's basketball scene. Over the years, it has seen players develop who later achieved success at the highest levels, and it continues to be a benchmark for youth basketball, successfully blending sport, internationalism, and local passion.
The 32nd edition of the Lissone Junior International Tournament — 12th Galvi Trophy was held during the 2026 Easter holidays in the city's sports halls. Twelve teams from seven nations competed in days of intense challenges. In the final, College Borgomanero beat the American team Step Higher Academy with a score of 120-100, completing a historic "threepeat" with three consecutive victories (2024, 2025, 2026). Tournament MVP was Matteo Oliveri from College Borgomanero.
The matches took place at the Palazzetto in Via Conti, PalaFarè in Via Caravaggio, and the Palazzetto in Via Fermi.
