The Conegliano Valdobbiadene area, wine capital for two years
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene area, uniting fourteen municipalities in the province of Treviso with Conegliano as the lead town, has been designated Italian Wine City 2026-2027 by the National Association of Wine Cities. This biennial recognition brings the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG territory and the UNESCO Prosecco hills into the spotlight.
In addition to Conegliano, the project includes Cison di Valmarino, Farra di Soligo, Follina, Fregona, Miane, Pieve di Soligo, Refrontolo, San Pietro di Feletto, San Vendemiano, Susegana, Valdobbiadene, Vittorio Veneto, and Vidor. This mosaic of villages and wineries will share a common calendar of initiatives dedicated to wine, culture, and slow tourism for two years.
The opening ceremony, spread across multiple municipalities between late February and early March, launches a program of approximately 190 events planned over the two years. These include conferences on the future of Prosecco, concerts, guided tours, exhibitions, and initiatives promoting viticulture, environmental sustainability, and territorial development. The Conegliano inauguration features a concert at the Duomo and a reception at the Convent of San Francesco.
The inauguration of Italian Wine City 2026-2027 took place from February 27 to March 1, 2026, spread across four municipalities in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area. The opening events kicked off a program of approximately 190 initiatives planned over the two years of the designation.
On February 27, a conference at the Auditorium in Pieve di Soligo opened the celebrations. On February 28, students enlivened the G. Verdi Institute in Valdobbiadene, while Conegliano hosted a concert by the Piccolo Coro at the Duomo, guided tours, and a reception at the Convent of San Francesco. On March 1, the celebrations concluded in Vittorio Veneto with cultural visits, including the Battle Museum and the "Sport Emotion" exhibition.
The opening marked the start of a comprehensive program of approximately 190 events over the two years of the designation.
Conegliano is served by a train station (Venice-Udine line) and the A27 motorway (Conegliano exit). The inaugural events take place in several municipalities within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area, from Pieve di Soligo to Vittorio Veneto.
Most inaugural events are free to attend. The full program is available on the channels of the National Association of Wine Cities.
