Italian Screens is the Mediterranean summit of cinema and audiovisual included in the program of Matera Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2026. It falls within the thematic pillar of "Transhumances", dedicated to generative cultural movements and migrations, and aims to make Matera a meeting point for the cinematographies of countries bordering the Mediterranean.

Institutions, producers, and operators

The summit brings institutional representatives, producers, and industry operators to the city for a series of B2B activities focused on internationalization: consolidating existing collaborations and activating new partnerships between the Italian and Euro-Mediterranean audiovisual industries. Alongside professional meetings, the program includes screenings in dialogue with film festivals already active in Matera and with other Mediterranean events.

Within the Matera 2026 vision

Promoted within the coordinated framework of the Ministry of Culture and the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation, Italian Screens is scheduled between March 20 and November 28, 2026, the dates marking the entire year as Mediterranean Capital. For a city that is already a natural open-air set, recognized worldwide for its locations, the summit represents a strategic piece: transforming the cinematic fame of the Sassi into a concrete opportunity for work and exchange for the audiovisual sector.
