Il Mondo nel Piatto is the multi-ethnic event in Aradeo, a small town in the province of Lecce in the heart of Salento, that transforms Piazza San Nicola into a vibrant meeting place for different cultures. The event serves as the culmination of an integration project promoted by the APS Nuova Pro Loco Aradeo, which throughout the year facilitates an educational and culinary journey dedicated to dialogue between local Italian and foreign communities.

The heart of the festival: the long banquet

The symbol of the evening is a very long banquet where Italians and foreigners sit side by side, sharing dishes that tell the stories of culinary traditions from different countries. It is a simple yet powerful gesture: the table becomes a space where differences meet and food becomes a universal language. Surrounding the banquet are food stalls, curated by local restaurants and venues, offering Salento specialties and international dishes, alongside cocktails prepared with exotic fruits.

Folk music and entertainment

Music is an integral part of the festival: the square comes alive with live folk and world music concerts, accompanying the tastings until late into the night. Local Salento bands, rooted in the tradition of the pizzica and Mediterranean sounds, engage with rhythms and melodies from other cultures, perfectly aligning with the inclusive spirit of the event.

An inclusion project

More than just a food festival, Il Mondo nel Piatto is the result of long-term work: months of meetings and workshops where women and men of different backgrounds share recipes, stories, and knowledge. The stated goal is to strengthen and spread Salento and international traditions, with a special focus on people from other cultures. The event is held in collaboration with the Municipality of Aradeo and local associations, under the patronage of the Province of Lecce.
