Edition 2025 — Il Cristallo d'Abruzzo
The 2025 edition
The guided tour in the village of Gissi led participants into the bowels of the Cristallo d'Abruzzo, through museum-cellars, tunnels, and caves carved into the selenite gypsum. The historical and anthropological narrative, also curated by historian Angelo Ciccarone, author of Nostra Gypsum, reconstructed the life of the Gissi community linked to the moonstone.
A convivial highlight of the itinerary was the setup of a small medieval banquet, featuring a tasting of vino cotto gissano — the ancient wine of the Gypses — accompanied by focaccia sfogliata al peperone. The initiative, conceived by president Antonio Ottaviano, confirmed Gissi as one of the most original villages in the Frentani Mountains, in the province of Chieti.
