Franco Vimercati at MUNAF in Cinisello Balsamo

MUNAF – National Museum of Photography in Cinisello Balsamo (Metropolitan City of Milan), housed at Villa Ghirlanda, pays homage to Franco Vimercati, a key figure in Italian conceptual photography, known for his patient and rigorous work on objects and repetition.

Four still lifes acquired by the museum

The heart of the exhibition consists of four untitled works recently added to the museum's collections: still lifes depicting a tureen, a glass, a vase with a black insert, and a coffee grinder. Everyday objects that, through Vimercati's lens, become an opportunity for an investigation into perception, time, and light. The exhibition is enriched by archival documents and artist's books.

A seminar and a film

The exhibition, curated by Matteo Balduzzi, is accompanied by the screening of the film 'Il diario della luce' (2019) and a study seminar, 'Intorno a Franco Vimercati' (Around Franco Vimercati), with the participation of critics and scholars. Located on the first floor of MUNAF, in parallel with other museum exhibitions, this initiative confirms Cinisello Balsamo's role as a national hub for author photography. Free admission.
