Vintage motorcycles return to parade on the Misano Adriatico street circuit
The Historical Re-enactment of Vintage Motorcycles, titled Mario Bertozzi "Pioz" Memorial, is the spring event that in Misano Adriatico (Province of Rimini, Emilia-Romagna) brings a fascinating page of local sporting history back to life. For one Sunday, the central streets and the seafront of the town are once again transformed into a circuit, as they were in the Sixties, when motorcycles raced between houses and just a stone's throw from the sea.
Before the modern Racetrack (now dedicated to Marco Simoncelli) was built, Misano hosted its races directly on the urban track. Those competitions anticipated the arrival of the major facility by about ten years and saw some of the names who would write Italian motorcycling history compete. The re-enactment was created precisely to preserve this memory, dedicating it to Mario Bertozzi, nicknamed "Pioz", a figure dear to Misano enthusiasts.
The heart of the day is the re-enactment parade reserved for motorcycles built up to 1979, divided by categories. Along the streets, the engines of legendary brands like Ducati, MV Agusta, Benelli, MotoBi, Morini, Gilera, Paton, Bianchi, and Laverda echo. The highlight is the Parade of Champions, which over the years has seen former riders and world champions connected to the Riviera and beyond parade. Completing the event is a vintage motorcycle and antique cycling exhibition and swap meet that attracts collectors and curious onlookers.
The event, organized by the Moto Club Misano Adriatico with the support of the Municipality, is a true popular celebration: free admission, a large crowd along the route, and an atmosphere that combines sport, nostalgia, and Romagna tradition. The event is part of Misano's spring calendar, alongside other traditional local events.
The 2026 re-enactment confirmed the charm of the Misano city circuit, with the parade of vintage motorcycles divided by categories along the streets of the center and near the sea. The day, organized by Moto Club Misano presided over by Duilio Damiani with the support of the Municipality, attracted enthusiasts and collectors.
Among the protagonists of the Parade of Champions were absolute prestigious former riders, contributing to recreating the "heroic" atmosphere of Sixties motorcycling.
