An important anniversary for Martinengo

The Feast of the Consecration of the Incoronata is a historical-theatrical re-enactment that takes place in Martinengo, a municipality in the Province of Bergamo. In 2026, the event takes on particular significance: it marks the 550th anniversary of the consecration of the Church of the Incoronata, which took place on November 3rd, 1476. The Church and Convent of the Incoronata are among the village's most precious monuments, housing an important cycle of frescoes.

A travelling performance

The re-enactment takes the form of a travelling historical-theatrical performance that unfolds within the spaces of the Incoronata Convent. Costumed figures, narration, and music recreate the atmosphere of the 15th century and the solemnity of the consecration, involving the audience in a journey through history and suggestion.

The featured companies

The event features the theatre company La Gilda delle Arti, the Gruppo Folcloristico Bartolomeo Colleoni — custodian of the memory of the condottiero who so greatly marked Martinengo — and the Coro Nuove Armonie, which accompanies the re-enactment with its voices.

A year dedicated to the Incoronata

The re-enactment on November 8th is the culmination of a 2026 calendar full of initiatives centred around the Incoronata, the "Inedita Incoronata" review, which intertwines three significant anniversaries: the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis, the 550th anniversary of the church's consecration, and the 210th anniversary of the birth of Saint Paola Elisabetta Cerioli. Conferences, exhibitions of ancient books, guided tours, and re-enactments take place from March to November.
