Edition 2025 — Potato Festival

From August 12 to 14, 2025, Grotte di Castro brought back its Potato Festival after a six-year absence: the 34th edition, organized by the Maria Santissima del Suffragio Festival Committee, enlivened Piazza Guglielmo Marconi with gnocchi, lilleri all'aglione, grilled meats, and potatoes cooked according to local tradition. Three evenings of live music and great participation, with proceeds destined for the decennial festival of 2028.

The 34th edition, the comeback after six years

The 2025 edition of the Potato Festival took place from August 12 to 14 in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, in Grotte di Castro, in the province of Viterbo. After a six-year interruption, the event was brought back to life by the Maria Santissima del Suffragio Festival Committee, which dedicated the entire proceeds to the major decennial festival scheduled for 2028.

The inauguration on Tuesday saw the presence of Mayor Antonio Rizzello and the President of the Province, followed by a live performance by the band Canvas; Wednesday featured a DJ set by Alessandro Costa and the presentation of the local football team. On the menu were traditional dishes: gnocchi with meat sauce, creative gnocchi, lilleri all'aglione, grilled meats, and fried, sautéed, or salad-style potatoes, accompanied by extra virgin olive oil and local wines, with watermelon and desserts to conclude the evenings.

The outcome was very positive, with visitors from all over the Tuscia region and beyond: a comeback that confirmed the festival as a "moment of social and cultural gathering" for the local community.
