Gravel riding along the Po
In Castelmassa, at the western end of the Polesine region in the province of Rovigo, the Gravel del Po is a non-competitive cycling tour dedicated to gravel riding, a discipline that combines road cycling with the ability to tackle dirt roads. The event takes place at the end of February, when the Polesine countryside and the riverbanks offer silent and evocative landscapes.
Two routes through embankments and white roads
Two non-competitive routes are offered: a short one of about 65 km and a long one of about 105 km, both developed for about 70% on white roads and 30% on very low-traffic routes, all in Alto Polesine through cycle paths, Po riverbanks, and fields. Refreshment stops are set up along the route, and upon arrival, participants can enjoy a hot sandwich with sausage or an alternative with cheese.
An event for cycle tourists
Organized by Cicloamatori Castelmassa, the Gravel del Po is not a race but an experience of slow discovery of the territory on two wheels, suitable for enthusiasts who love cycling away from traffic. Registration includes a gadget, refreshments, and the GPS track of the route.
Gravel del Po — edition 2026
The Gravel del Po 2026 brought gravel enthusiasts to Castelmassa for a non-competitive ride along the great river. Two routes were offered: a short one of about 65 km and a long one of about 105 km, both approximately 70% on white roads and 30% on very low-traffic routes, all in Alto Polesine. With refreshment stops along the route, GPS track, and gadget included in the registration (around 15 euros), and a hot sausage sandwich upon arrival, the event confirmed its character as a cycle touring experience far from traffic.

Sunday morning (meeting)
- From 8:00 AM — Meeting in Castelmassa and collection of bibs and gadgets
- Departure of the two non-competitive routes: short (approx. 65 km) and long (approx. 105 km), on white roads and low-traffic routes in Alto Polesine
- Along the route: refreshment stops
- Upon arrival: hot sausage sandwich or cheese alternative; optional beer

How to get there
Castelmassa is located in Alto Polesine, in the province of Rovigo, along the Po River. By car, from the SS482 or from the A22/A13 motorways. The nearest train stations are Ostiglia and Sermide. The meeting point and collection of bibs/gadgets take place in the morning in Castelmassa.
Registration
