The 29th edition of the Gnocco Festival

From August 7 to 10, 2025, Taurano, in the province of Avellino, hosted the twenty-ninth edition of its Gnocco Festival, organized by the Pro Loco together with the municipal administration and the Franciscan friars of the San Giovanni del Palco Convent, who provide their courtyard every year.

As per tradition, the gnocchi were served in several versions—with sauce, meat sauce, truffle—alongside sausages, sandwiches, meatballs, cured meats, stockfish, pecorino, homemade bread, and desserts, all accompanied by wines and beer at the stalls set up by volunteers. The dining area provided over a thousand seats, while a shuttle service connected the parking lots to the convent courtyard.

During the evenings, the Franciscan convent, founded in 1396, and the remains of the 1st-century AD Roman villa found on the site remained open to the public. Entertainment was provided by live music, with nights of ballroom dancing, Latin American music, and karaoke. The festival was part of the Fest — Summer in Taurano program, the municipality's summer event calendar which ran from July 10 to August 15, 2025.
