The Town's Carnival
In Cugliate-Fabiasco, a municipality in Valmarchirolo nestled between the lakes of Varesotto and the Swiss border, in the Province of Varese, the Giudei Carnival is the festival that fills the winter season with color. It is one of those village traditions passed down from generation to generation, experienced by young and old, strictly in costume.
The Parade
The heart of the day is the masked parade. The gathering point is the churchyard, from where the procession begins, accompanied by the Musical Corps of Cugliate Fabiasco, crosses the town, and concludes at the sports field. Along the route, themed entertainment and face painting engage the younger ones, in a festive and family atmosphere.
The Pro Loco's Risotto Feast
As tradition dictates, at the sports field, the Pro Loco Cugliate Fabiasco offers the risotto feast, accompanied by a food stand with sausages, fries, and drinks. It is the convivial moment that closes the festival, dedicated to simple cuisine and good company.
A Community Festival
Organized by the Pro Loco with the collaboration of local associations and the patronage of the Municipality, the Giudei Carnival is much more than a parade: it is an event that builds community, where the small village in the Province of Varese comes together around its traditions. The event takes place outdoors and is cancelled in case of bad weather.
Giudei Carnival — edition 2026
On Sunday, February 8, 2026, the Giudei Carnival returns to Cugliate-Fabiasco, organized by the Pro Loco with local associations and municipal patronage.
The gathering is set for 1:30 PM in the churchyard; at 2:00 PM, the masked parade begins, accompanied by the Musical Corps of Cugliate Fabiasco, with arrival at the sports field. For the little ones, themed entertainment and face painting. In case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.
