The historic running race of the San Giacomo district in Trieste
The Giro di San Giacomo is a historic event for Trieste's running scene: with its long tradition, it is one of the city's longest-running and most beloved road races. It takes place in the popular San Giacomo district, in the Campi Elisi area, with the start and finish near the Ariston Cinema, along a city route of a few kilometers suitable for both competitive runners and amateurs.
The race is the first event of the Trofeo Trieste, the running circuit that accompanies the city's sports season through its various road races. This is why the Giro di San Giacomo attracts a large number of participants every year, including local running clubs, registered athletes, and simple enthusiasts who want to kick off the racing year.
Organized by ASD GS San Giacomo Trieste in collaboration with the Trofeo Trieste, the Giro is much more than a competition: it is a district festival, where sport intertwines with the life of the neighborhood. The presence of honored guests linked to the history of Julian and national athletics enriches each edition with symbolic value, uniting generations in the name of running.
The Giro di San Giacomo is part of Trieste's rich sporting tradition, a city that loves to run between the sea and the Karst. Participating means experiencing the authentic atmosphere of a popular district and a community that has gathered around the passion for running for generations.
