Giarratana Onion Festival

2025 Edition

The 45th edition of the Giarratana Onion Festival was held from August 12th to 14th, 2025, along the streets of the historic center of the Municipality of Giarratana, in the province of Ragusa. For three days, the Iblean village transformed into a large open-air kitchen, with stalls of local products and crafts dedicated to the sweet Giarratana onion, a Slow Food Presidium, served cooked and raw in numerous traditional peasant recipes.

Alongside the tastings, the 2025 edition offered parades by the Tamburi Città di Giarratana group, a vintage motorcycle exhibition along the main street, street performers, and the "Night of Music" evenings with musical and folk shows in the town squares. Admission was free. The event was part of the traditional celebrations for Saint Bartholomew, the patron saint of the town.
