The Frühjahrskonzert der Musikkapelle Peter Sigmair is the annual spring concert of the wind band of Valdaora/Olang, located in the picturesque Puster Valley, in the Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol), Trentino-Alto Adige region. The event is held at the Kongresshaus in Mitterolang (Valdaora di Mezzo) and stands as one of the most awaited cultural highlights of the season for the local community.

A band with over a century of history

The Musikkapelle Peter Sigmair is one of South Tyrol's historic bands: its tradition spans over a hundred years, and today the ensemble consists of about forty-nine members. The band is named after Peter Sigmair (1775-1810), an innkeeper and commander of the Olang sharpshooters, a prominent figure in the 1809 Tyrolean uprising to whom the town has also dedicated its main square. Carrying his name means preserving an essential piece of the town's identity and memory.

The evening's program

The spring concert is a live wind band performance: the repertoire typically alternates between original symphonic pieces for wind instruments, overtures, polkas, and marches from the Central European and South Tyrolean band tradition, along with some lighter pieces designed for a general audience. It serves as a showcase for the preparation work carried out by the musicians during the winter months under the guidance of the conductor (Kapellmeister).
