The right thing in the wrong place: the festival on the roof of a multi-storey car park in East Rome
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Flò – FuoriLuogo is perhaps the most unconventional festival in the Roman summer: it takes place on the roof of a multi-storey car park, amidst antennas, flashing lights, and murals, in the Casilino district of Municipio V in Rome, in the Lazio region. The slogan chosen by the organisers—"the right thing in the wrong place"—perfectly captures the spirit of the project: taking a place that no one looked at and transforming it into a vibrant square, without waiting for someone else to do it.
The festival was born from an idea by Fusolab, an association that has been working for over twenty years in the eastern quadrant of the capital with projects for local welfare and widespread culture. It is held within the Casilino Sky Park, the panoramic terrace of the Multipark on Viale della Bella Villa.
The surface is that of a true open-air agora: approximately four thousand square metres at a height of seventeen metres, with a 360-degree view over the rooftops of East Rome and the Castelli Romani on the horizon. The structure is organised into thematic areas that coexist on the same evening, so that visitors can choose their own pace:
Flò does not choose a single genre: it lets them coexist. Throughout the evenings, live music and DJ sets, theatrical performances, stand-up comedy monologues, open-air film and documentary screenings, meetings, and sporting events alternate. It is a formula that reflects the vocation of the Casilino Sky Park, whose summer season hosts rooftop cinema festivals, comedy and theatre nights, as well as concerts by international and underground artists.
The logic is that of accessible culture: admission is free, access to the car park on the lower floors is free, and the programme is designed for an intergenerational audience, from local families to young people arriving by metro.
Behind the festival lies years of work in the area. Flò – FuoriLuogo was a winner of the public call «Roma Creativa 365. Cultura tutto l'anno» promoted by Roma Capitale – Department of Culture with Zètema Progetto Cultura, with financial support granted for both 2025 and 2026. This recognition certifies the value of the project beyond the dimension of a summer event: here, the suburbs are not a margin to be entertained, but a place that produces culture itself.
Those visiting Rome rarely venture beyond the cultural Grande Raccordo Anulare of the historic centre. Flò is an opportunity to see a different and very real city: the audience is that of the neighbourhood, food prices are popular, and the atmosphere is that of a block party extended to an entire municipality. At sunset, when the lights of the Live Arena turn on and the traffic of the Casilina flows below, you understand why the project has already attracted tens of thousands of people.
For the 2026 summer season, Casilino Sky Park has announced a schedule running from 30 May to 30 September, with opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday from 18:00 to 02:00 and a weekly programme alternating rooftop cinema, stand-up comedy nights, theatre, and concerts. The Flò – FuoriLuogo project is among the beneficiaries of the «Roma Creativa 365. Cultura tutto l'anno» call for proposals for 2026, which makes a new edition in August highly likely.
At the moment, however, the organisers have not yet released the specific festival calendar or the list of artists. Admission to the Casilino Sky Park remains free, with the annual Fusolab membership card.
Casilino Sky Park, Viale della Bella Villa 106, 00171 Rome — fourth floor (panoramic terrace) of the Multipark car park, Municipio V.
Metro: Line C, Alessandrino stop, a few minutes' walk away. Bus: lines 213 and 313. Car: free parking with about 600 spaces on floors 1-3 of the structure. From Fiumicino Airport, you can reach the city centre with the Leonardo Express and then continue by metro.
The Casilino Sky Park is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 18:00 to 02:00. Admission is free; the annual Fusolab membership card is required, which can be purchased on-site or online.
Bring a light sweatshirt: it gets windy on the roof at night. The area is large and mostly outdoors, with limited shaded areas in the early afternoon. Full programme and updates at casilinoskypark.it.
