The masked festival in the historic center of Filottrano
The Filottrano Carnival is one of the most anticipated winter events in the charming hillside village in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region. For an afternoon, the streets of the historic centre are filled with confetti, masks, and music, welcoming families and children to a celebration designed for the entire community. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Filottrano in collaboration with local associations.
The heart of the day is the parade of allegorical floats, which winds through the village streets amidst colours, costumes, and merriment. The procession moves through the squares and alleys of the historic centre, engaging young and old in a collective festive atmosphere typical of Italian Carnival.
The Filottrano Carnival pays great attention to the little ones. Throughout the afternoon, there are plenty of balloons, face painting, and entertainment, with shows by clowns and entertainers who engage the children along the route. The festival thus combines the tradition of the parade with fun for families.
As is customary for Carnival in the Marche region, the day is accompanied by typical sweets of this time of year. Castagnole (small fried pastries) and cotton candy are offered to families, adding a sweet touch to an afternoon dedicated to play and conviviality.
Located among the hills overlooking Monte Conero from the Esino valley, Filottrano is a municipality in the province of Ancona known for its fashion tradition and its calendar full of popular events. The Carnival represents one of the best opportunities to experience the authentic atmosphere of the village and discover the hospitality of the inland Marche region.
