A cornerstone of Italian freestyle
Born from the Roman underground scene, the Fight Club - Rap Freestyle Tournament is now considered the second longest-running rap battle tournament in Italy, following Tecniche Perfette. Its formula remains unchanged: two freestylers, one beat, no written lyrics, and only the ability to improvise rhymes determines who advances. The event is directed by Mister T and DJ Snifta, iconic figures of the Romanderground collective who have overseen its artistic direction for years.
A circuit spanning Italy
Fight Club is not just a single-night event but a full-season journey. From October to May, eight qualifying rounds take place in various cities; in recent years, the circuit has visited Bologna, Cosenza, Rome, Teramo, and Florence, bringing live freestyle to clubs, community centers, and self-managed cultural spaces. Winners of these rounds qualify directly for the final, while additional spots are awarded through supplementary auditions, opening doors for emerging talent.
The national final in Rome
The climax arrives in June in the capital. The final is held at the Wishlist Club, a historic venue on Via dei Volsci in the San Lorenzo district—one of the beating hearts of Rome's nightlife and student life, located in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital in the Lazio region. Here, the national champion belt is awarded, a title considered as prestigious as a record deal in the scene.
The Circle of Death
The hallmark of the final is the famous "Circle of Death": freestylers face off in groups of four, surrounded by an audience that acts as the arena. There is no distance between the rappers and the listeners, and the crowd's reaction carries as much weight as the jury's verdict. It is a format that restores freestyle to its original street-battle roots, brought inside a club.
Jury and hosting
Every year, the jury brings together heavyweights of the Italian scene. Recent judges include Kiave, the reigning champion, and historical figures of the tournament like Dr. Jack, the 2017 winner. The event is hosted by Debbit, a Roman freestyler who claimed the title in the 2018/2019 season. The hall of fame tells the story of the discipline's recent history: Debbit, Hydra, Frenk, and Shekkero have all passed through here.

The final of the twelfth edition was held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Wishlist Club on Via dei Volsci 126, in the San Lorenzo district of Rome. The competition featured winners from the qualifying rounds hosted throughout the season in Bologna, Cosenza, Rome, Teramo, and Florence, joined by other freestylers selected through additional auditions, creating a lineup that brought together the best improvisers in the country.
The evening followed the tournament's classic format, with Circle of Death challenges—groups of four contestants surrounded by the audience—leading up to the direct elimination rounds that determined the national champion.

How to get there
San Lorenzo is a few minutes' walk from Roma Termini station. By Metro: Line B, Policlinico or Castro Pretorio stop. By Tram: Lines 3 and 19, Reti or Porta Maggiore stop. Parking in the neighborhood is very difficult, especially in the evening; using public transport is strongly recommended.
