The historic agricultural fair of Basso Lodigiano, over 160 editions of peasant tradition
The Autumn Fair of Livestock, Goods, and Grapes of Caselle Landi is one of Lombardy's longest-running agricultural events: with over 160 editions behind it, it tells the story of an entire territory. Caselle Landi, a small municipality in the Province of Lodi on the border with Emilia and close to the Po River, preserves the rural soul of Basso Lodigiano in this fair, made up of livestock farming, agriculture, and viticulture.
As the name suggests, the fair revolves around three main protagonists: livestock, with livestock exhibitions that attract breeders from all over the area; goods, with numerous stalls that fill the town's streets; and grapes, a symbol of the harvest and local winemaking tradition. A special role is also given to the poultry exhibition, managed by the Lombard Poultry Breeders Association, which brings splendid specimens of farmyard breeds to the fair to introduce young and old to the richness of the rural world.
In addition to the exhibitions, the day is enlivened by local products, food stands, and the genuine atmosphere of a village fair that has stood the test of time. It is an event designed for the whole family, where passion for animals, peasant culture, and the history of the territory intertwine in one great autumn celebration.
More than just a market, the Autumn Fair is an identity heritage for Caselle Landi and the Basso Lodigiano. Passed down from generation to generation, it continues to attract visitors and renew the relationship between the community and its agricultural roots every year, in one of the most fertile and productive areas of the Po Valley.
The 2026 edition, the 161st, confirms the centuries-old appointment in Caselle Landi with the Autumn Fair of Livestock, Goods, and Grapes. The day, traditionally in September, showcases livestock with exhibitions, poultry breeds curated by the Lombard Poultry Breeders Association, stalls along the town's streets, and local products. A celebration for the whole family that celebrates the rural culture of Basso Lodigiano.
The detailed program with the definitive date will be published by the Municipality of Caselle Landi in the weeks preceding the event. Based on recent editions, the day includes:
