Great piano music between Brescia and Bergamo
Founded in 1964, the Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo is a unique event of its kind: a festival that has united two Lombard cities for over sixty years in the name of great piano music. Among the most important piano festivals in Europe, it has hosted the greatest performers of the classical and contemporary repertoire over time, building an international reputation.
The 63rd edition is titled East & West – From Chopin to Arvo Pärt and dedicates particular attention to the repertoires and composers of Eastern and Slavic Europe. Alongside the immortal names of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, and Scriabin, audiences will encounter the voices of Bartók, Dvořák, Janáček, and Arvo Pärt, in a journey that combines tradition and contemporaneity.
On the stages of the two cities, some of the best pianists on the international scene will perform: Grigory Sokolov, Mikhail Pletnëv, Jan Lisiecki, and Lilya Zilberstein, along with young talents that the festival is proud to present to its audience. Among the special events in Bergamo, the recital by Yuja Wang accompanied by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, on September 8 at the Teatro Donizetti.
For the Bergamo leg, concerts are held at the Teatro Donizetti, in the heart of the lower city, and at the Teatro Sociale in Città Alta. The festival's long duration, from late April to early October, allows audiences to experience great piano music as a common thread running through the entire beautiful season between Brescia and Bergamo, Italian Capitals of Culture.
The 63rd edition of the Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo takes place from April 27 to October 1, 2026, under the title East & West – From Chopin to Arvo Pärt. The edition is dedicated to the repertoires and composers of Eastern and Slavic Europe.
Concerts are held in the theatres of the two cities: in Bergamo, the Teatro Donizetti and the Teatro Sociale in Città Alta; in Brescia, the Teatro Grande and the Teatro Sociale.

The Bergamo venues are the Teatro Donizetti (Piazza Cavour, in the centre of lower Bergamo, near the station) and the Teatro Sociale in Città Alta, reachable by funicular. Concerts are also held in Brescia, which is well connected to Bergamo via the A4 motorway and by train.
Tickets for individual concerts and season tickets are on sale on the official website and through ticket agencies. Reduced rates for young people and students.
Recitals by big names, such as Sokolov and Yuja Wang, often sell out: it is advisable to purchase tickets well in advance.
