Popular singing returns to the streets of Polaveno
In Polaveno, a municipality in Valle Trompia, province of Brescia, the Festival of Tavern Song celebrates one of the most authentic traditions of popular culture: convivial singing, the kind that arose spontaneously in taverns and homes, accompanying community life.
The event attracts choral groups and singers from various provinces in Northern Italyโfrom Cuneo to Bergamo, from Brescia to Verona and Trento. The town's historic center becomes a widespread stage for a day entirely dedicated to folk music and rural culture.
The program features performances by guest groups, itinerant singing through the town's streets, and a grand concluding collective performance. The day ends with a dinner featuring 'spiedo bresciano', the region's signature dish, in a festive atmosphere of sharing that harks back to the convivial traditions of the Trompia Valley.
The 2026 edition, the third, will liven up the historic center of Polaveno on Saturday, May 23. The day will feature groups of singers from various provinces of Northern Italy, celebrating convivial popular singing. The program runs from the afternoon into the evening, culminating in a grand collective performance and a traditional dinner with 'spiedo bresciano'.
