The patron saint of Roccasicura celebrated with thirteen days of preparation
In Roccasicura, a village in Alto Molise in the province of Isernia, nestled within the Alto Molise MaB Reserve, June 13th is the most cherished date of the year: the festival of Saint Anthony of Padua, the town's patron saint. The inhabitants, known as "roccolani", experience this event as the moment of greatest community cohesion throughout the year.
The festival is preceded by the 'tredicina', the thirteen days of spiritual preparation that mark the approach to the saint's solemnity. On June 13th, the day begins with a solemn mass, continues with the procession of Saint Anthony's statue through the streets of the historic center, and concludes with musical performances and civil celebrations.
Roccasicura is part of the Authentic Villages circuit and preserves the traditions of the Molise Apennines intact. The patronal feast is the occasion when the village, often quiet during the year, comes alive again with the return of emigrants and the participation of families.
In 2026, Roccasicura will again celebrate its patron saint, Saint Anthony of Padua, on June 13th. The festival will be preceded by the traditional 'tredicina' and will culminate on the saint's day with a solemn mass, the procession of the statue through the village streets, and civil celebrations with music.
The detailed schedule will be released by the parish and the municipality in the weeks prior.
