A festival spread across Lake Maggiore

Il Lago Cromatico is a summer music festival that brings music to the most evocative places on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore, in the province of Varese. Organized by the Associazione Musica Libera, the festival is spread across eight municipalities — Angera, Besozzo, Gavirate, Ispra, Laveno Mombello, Leggiuno, Ranco, and Travedona Monate — with a program of twenty-one concerts ranging from classical to jazz, from singer-songwriter music to fusions with dance.

Music in the sign of colours

Each edition of the festival revolves around a theme related to colours, inspired by the lake's landscape. Concerts are accompanied by nature walks, exhibitions, workshops, and gastronomic events, in a format that combines musical listening with territorial discovery. Particularly evocative are the sunrise concerts on the lake shores, among the most beloved moments of the programme.

Space for young talents

Among the festival's characteristics is its focus on young people: the 'Lago Cromatico Young' section involves over two hundred students from high schools and the conservatory in the province of Varese, who are the protagonists of a series of dedicated concerts. This choice makes Il Lago Cromatico not only a quality showcase but also an opportunity for growth for the new generations of local musicians. Angera, with its Rocca Borromeo overlooking the lake, is one of the most fascinating stops on the tour.
