The September village festival of the hamlet of Grassaga
The Festeggiamenti della Madonna della Cintura are the village festival (sagra) of the hamlet of Grassaga, in San Donà di Piave, in the province of Venice. The festival is dedicated to the Madonna della Cintura (Our Lady of the Belt), a title linked to the Augustinian origins of the parish. Although the Madonna is venerated in August, the festival is traditionally celebrated in September, when, after the grape harvest (vendemmia), the community can finally dedicate itself to the celebration.
The festivities are spread over three weekends in September, in the parish park of Grassaga, where a covered structure allows the festival to take place, sheltered from any weather. It is a well-established organisation, the result of the work of volunteers from the parish and the hamlet.
The programme includes the food stand (stand gastronomico) with traditional Venetian dishes, a charity raffle (pesca di beneficenza), an art exhibition, and a play area for children. A mix of taste, devotion, and fun that makes Grassaga, a hamlet of San Donà di Piave, a point of reference for September festivals in eastern Veneto.
In 2026, the hamlet of Grassaga, in San Donà di Piave, will again host the Festeggiamenti della Madonna della Cintura. The festival takes place over three September weekends in the parish park, with the usual formula combining devotion and village celebration.
The detailed schedule for the 2026 edition will be announced by the parish of Grassaga. Based on recent editions, the festivities are spread over three September weekends and include:
