About N.S. dell'Orto

At the beginning of July, Chiavari (Metropolitan City of Genoa) celebrates its patron saint, Nostra Signora dell'Orto, venerated since 1643. Two days of tradition, music, and spectacle: the large city fair with hundreds of stalls invades the streets of the centre, while the 'Great Mass for Our Lady of the Orchard' performed by the Filarmonica Città di Chiavari resounds in the Cathedral.

The patron saint of Chiavari

Nostra Signora dell'Orto is the patron saint of Chiavari, a town in the Tigullio region within the Metropolitan City of Genoa, venerated since 1643, the year linked to the city's protection during an epidemic. The majestic Cathedral dedicated to her, with its imposing neoclassical pronaos, is the heart of the celebrations that involve the entire community every year in early July.

The large city fair

One of the most anticipated moments is the city fair: hundreds of stalls — over three hundred — spread along the streets of Chiavari's historic centre, beneath the characteristic medieval arcades. A commercial and popular tradition that attracts visitors from all over the Tigullio area and transforms the city into a large open-air market.

Sacred music in the Cathedral

In the evening, the Cathedral hosts the concert of the Great Mass for Our Lady of the Orchard, performed by the Filarmonica Città di Chiavari: a deeply moving event that combines devotion and musical culture. Amidst processions, religious celebrations, and festivities, the Feast of Nostra Signora dell'Orto represents Chiavari's most important identity event.

N.S. dell'Orto — edition 2026

On July 2 and 3, 2026, Chiavari celebrates its patron saint Nostra Signora dell'Orto: the large city fair with over 310 stalls invades the streets of the centre, while the Great Mass for Our Lady of the Orchard performed by the Filarmonica Città di Chiavari resounds in the Cathedral.

The 2026 edition of the patronal feast focuses on July 2 and 3. The city fair animates the historic centre with hundreds of stalls, while religious celebrations and the concert in the Cathedral mark the most solemn moments of the festivities.
