The Festa Patronale della Madonna del Rosario is the most cherished event in Pancarana, a small municipality in the Lomellina region, province of Pavia. Every year, on the first weekend of October, the village gathers around its patron saint for a festival that combines religious and community life.

Faith and tradition

The religious heart of the festival is the procession on Saturday evening and the solemn service on Sunday, accompanied by the choir. These are the moments when the community of Pancarana renews its devotion to the Madonna del Rosario, in a tradition passed down through generations that marks the village's calendar.

Community festival

Alongside the religious rites, the festival offers a rich entertainment program: the five-a-side football tournament, the distribution of salami, the local produce market—potatoes, onions, pumpkins, the fruits of the Lomellina land—the dance school, and shows for children. Organised by the Parish of Pancarana with the patronage of the Municipality, the patronal festival is an occasion for meeting and conviviality that brings together the inhabitants of the village and neighbouring towns, in the heart of the Pavese countryside.
