The festival of a small village

The Festa Patronale (Patronal Festival) of Oliva Gessi, dedicated to San Martino and also known as Oliva Gessi in Festa, is the most important summer event in one of the smallest municipalities in the province of Pavia: just 180 inhabitants, perched on the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese between Casteggio and Montalto Pavese. For a week, the village transforms into a large celebration, where the community comes together.

Gastronomy, music, and theatre

The programme alternates gastronomic evenings with live music, shows of Teatro Sotto le Stelle (Theatre Under the Stars) with comedies from the local company, apericenas, concerts, and traditional dance evenings. The cuisine offers typical local dishes, such as Bârbâlâ, in a convivial atmosphere that is the true heart of the village festival.

Organised by the Amici di Oliva Gessi (Friends of Oliva Gessi), the festival is an example of how even a tiny village can liven up the summer with energy and passion.
