The devotion of Trivigno to Saint Anthony of Padua

The Festa di Sant'Antonio da Padova is the main patronal festival of Trivigno, a small village in the Province of Potenza overlooking the Lucanian hills. Traditionally celebrated at the beginning of September, it is an event steeped in history and local devotion, in which the entire community gathers around its patron saint.

Between religious rite and popular festival

The celebrations, organised by the Comitato Feste (Festival Committee) with the Pro Loco Trivigno, alternate liturgical moments—Eucharistic celebrations and the solemn procession with the statue of the saint through the village streets—with civil events, including music, illuminations, and conviviality. Over the years, the devotion of Trivigno to Saint Anthony has also been enriched with particularly heartfelt moments, such as the reception of a relic of the saint.

The festival falls in an ideal season to discover Trivigno and the Lucanian hinterland: fresh hill air, a welcoming atmosphere, and the warmth of a community that experiences its patronal festival as a moment of identity.
