The patronal festival of the Bassa Bresciana between faith, fairground rides and vintage tractors
In Pralboino, a municipality in the province of Brescia in the heart of the Bassa Bresciana, the patronal festival of Saint Flavian is the most anticipated event of the autumn. Traditionally celebrated on the second Sunday in October, the festival intertwines religious devotion with a lively town celebration that draws visitors from all over the Brescian plain.
The most solemn moment is the Mass in the Minor Basilica of Pralboino. Every year, the relics of Saint Flavian are placed on a specially decorated float adorned with flowers and carried in procession through the town streets: an ancient and participatory rite that gives identity to the community.
Alongside the religious part, the festival offers a rich and popular programme: fairground rides and attractions, stalls for hobbyists and exhibitors, street artists, workshops for children, and among the most characteristic events, the exhibition of vintage and modern agricultural vehicles — a tribute to the agricultural vocation of the area. There is also an art exhibition featuring works by Maestro Pietro Bozzoni and his students.
The food stands complete the festival with traditional Brescian dishes. The Festa di San Flaviano is among the events that tell the identity of the Bassa Bresciana, in Lombardy, through traditions, flavours, and a sense of community. A festival that well represents the link between faith, land, and celebration in the villages of the plain.
For 2026, the Festa di San Flaviano is confirmed around the second Sunday of October, according to the patronal tradition of Pralboino. The festival combines the religious celebration, with the solemn Mass in the Minor Basilica and the procession of the saint's relics, with the popular festival featuring fairground rides, stalls, street artists, and an exhibition of agricultural vehicles.
The dates and detailed programme will be announced by the Municipality and the Parish in the weeks preceding the festival.
Based on recent editions, the Festa di San Flaviano is structured as follows:
