The 80th anniversary of the Republic

The Republic Day is the anniversary commemorating the referendum of June 2, 1946, when Italians chose the republican form of government after the Liberation. In Castiglione delle Stiviere, a town in the Alto Mantovano region of the province of Mantua, the anniversary - the eightieth in 2026 - is celebrated with a program that intertwines institutions, schools, and culture in the courtyard of Palazzo Pastore.

The Constitution for eighteen-year-olds

The central moment is the ceremony of presenting the Constitution to the newly-eighteen-year-olds: young citizens who have just reached the age of majority receive a copy of the Constitutional Charter from the Municipality. It is a symbolic gesture but full of meaning, designed - as the administration explains - to help young people begin their journey of civic participation "in the most informed and aware way possible". The ceremony is accompanied by music, with the piano of Maestro Gianmaria Lanfranchi and the voice of soprano Olivia Latina.

The Junior Orchestra concert

The celebration culminates in a free concert by the Junior Orchestra of the Musicale Associazione Culturale, conducted by Chiara Romanò Baccolo. The program, titled "Music Fantasy, from Tchaikovsky to Queen", spans different genres and centuries, from classical music to rock, in an evening that showcases the young musicians of the area in the setting of Palazzo Pastore.
