The Festa della Musica, which in Saronno coincides with the European Music Day on June 21st, is the event with which the city greets the arrival of summer by making its streets resonate. The festival, born across Europe to celebrate music in all its forms, finds in Saronno, in the province of Varese, a variation linked to the territory's brass band tradition.

Parade of the brass bands

The heart of the event is the travelling parade of the Saronno Civic Musical Corps, joined by other brass bands. The parade crosses the city centre, starting from the Ignoto Militi school and ending at the Park of the former Seminary, filling streets and squares with music and involving passers-by in a cheerful musical procession.

A Lombard tradition

Musical bands represent a heritage deeply rooted in Lombard culture: in many municipalities, the musical corps is one of the oldest and most beloved institutions.
