The grand market exhibition celebrating the IGP cherry from the Marostica hills
The Festa della Ciliegia di Marostica IGP is the grand celebration of the product that represents the agricultural identity of the territory. Cherry cultivation, according to tradition, dates back to 1454, when the castellan Taddeo Parisio had cherry trees planted throughout the area in memory of the famous chess game. The market exhibition has been held continuously since 1950 and today celebrates the Ciliegia di Marostica IGP, a European recognition that protects the varieties grown on the hills of the municipality, in the province of Vicenza.
The heart of the festival is the market exhibition in the historic center and Piazza Castello, featuring producer stalls, direct sales of fresh cherries in various varieties, tastings of desserts and cherry-based preparations, entertainment, and a food area. Surrounding the market are panoramic walks towards Valle San Floriano, visits to orchards, and tastings in the fields along the "Cherry Route".
Organized by Pro Marostica with the Consortium for the Protection of Marostica IGP Cherry, the festival combines agricultural promotion, slow tourism, and food and wine tradition. Admission to the market exhibition is free.
The 82nd edition of the Festa della Ciliegia di Marostica IGP enlivens the town from May 30 to June 2, 2026. The main day is Sunday, May 31, with the market exhibition in the historic center, producer stalls, tastings, and the gastronomic area. The program opens on Saturday with panoramic walks towards Valle San Floriano and closes on Tuesday, June 2, with the Cherry Walk. Admission to the market exhibition is free.
Marostica can be reached by car from the A31 motorway (exit Dueville or Thiene-Schio) towards Bassano del Grappa. The nearest train station is Bassano del Grappa (about 8 km). The market exhibition takes place in the pedestrianized historic center and Piazza Castello.
Free admission to the market exhibition and producer stalls. Some guided excursions may require booking.
Ideal period to combine the visit with the discovery of the walled town and the surrounding hills. Information: ciliegiadimarosticaigp.it.
