The late June festival linked to the 'sanpieroi' pears and the patron saint Saint Peter
The Festa dei Peri takes place between late June and early July in San Pietro Viminario, a municipality in the Bassa Padovana area in the province of Padua. The name comes from the "peretti sanpieroi", the typical local pear variety that ripens around June 29th, the feast day of the patron saint Saint Peter.
The event is held in the picturesque cloister of the Parish Church of San Pietro Apostolo. The program includes evenings of music and dancing, a large charity raffle, inflatable games and a funfair with bumper cars and rides for the little ones, as well as a rich food and wine stand with traditional Paduan specialties.
Alongside the festival, the community gathers in honor of Saint Peter, their patron saint, to pray, celebrate, and share moments of fraternity. Organized by the parish with the support of the Pro Loco (local tourism board) and the Municipality, the Festa dei Peri combines the religious dimension with a convivial atmosphere, making it one of the most anticipated events of the San Pietro summer.
