About Reading Marathon

For over twenty years, the Reading Marathon has transformed Feltre into a city of readers: for an entire day, schools, churches, and cultural spaces host public readings aloud around a chosen theme. The 2026 edition, the twenty-first, is dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi, on the 800th anniversary of his death, and culminates in an evening at the Teatro de la Sena with psychiatrist and writer Vittorino Andreoli.

A City That Reads Aloud

The Feltre Reading Marathon is a cultural festival that for over twenty years has enlivened the city of Feltre (province of Belluno) with a day entirely dedicated to books and reading aloud. Organized by the 'Panfilo Castaldi' Feltrino Library Hub, the event involves schools, libraries, churches, and cultural spaces in the city in a great relay of public readings.

The 2026 Theme: Saint Francis

Each edition revolves around a theme. The theme for 2026, the 21st edition, is Saint Francis of Assisi, chosen to mark the 800th anniversary of the saint's death. Readings, reading groups, and various initiatives explore the Franciscan figure, ideally engaging with other events dedicated to the saint that animate Feltre throughout the year, such as the Franciscan Urban Treks.

The Evening with Vittorino Andreoli

The heart of the day is the final evening at the Teatro de la Sena, an eighteenth-century gem of Feltre, with a distinguished guest: in 2026, psychiatrist and writer Vittorino Andreoli, who will present his reflections on Francis of Assisi. An event that combines the popular and participatory dimension of collective reading with the higher level of cultural exchange.
