The Feast of Saint Bassiano is the patronal feast of Lodi, the provincial capital in Lombardy. Saint Bassiano, the city's first bishop, is celebrated on January 19th with four days of events that combine the religious dimension with the popular and cultural, involving the entire Lodi community.
Tripe Under the Arcades
The most beloved symbol of the feast is tripe — 'büsèca' in the Lodi dialect — prepared overnight by volunteers and distributed free of charge under the arcades of the Palazzo Broletto. Thousands of citizens gather to receive a steaming portion of this traditional dish, accompanied by mulled wine and raspadüra: a convivial ritual that reconnects the community to its traditions.
Four Days of Events
A packed program revolves around the gastronomic event: pontifical mass in the Cathedral on January 19th, markets, concerts, painting exhibitions, extraordinary museum openings, guided tours, and historical presentations. The institutional highlight is the awarding of the 'Fanfullino della riconoscenza' (Fanfullino of Recognition) at the Teatro alle Vigne, an award for citizens who have distinguished themselves for the good of the city. The fair with artisan stalls in Piazza della Vittoria completes a feast that is at the heart of Lodi's identity.

The 2026 edition of the Feast of Saint Bassiano takes place from January 16th to 19th. Four days of events celebrate the patron saint of Lodi, with the traditional distribution of tripe ('büsèca') under the arcades of the Palazzo Broletto, prepared overnight by volunteers and accompanied by mulled wine and raspadüra.
