A day celebrating rural traditions, nature, and the flavors of the Montalbano area in Vinci
The Farmers' Festival is an annual spring event that transforms the historic center of Vinci—nestled in the heart of the Montalbano area and the Metropolitan City of Florence—into a vibrant gathering place for celebrating rural life and local agricultural traditions. Promoted by the Vincincentro Natural Shopping Center with the support of the Municipality of Vinci and various local partners, the event honors the Vincian landscape, defined by its vineyards, olive groves, and ancient farming crafts.
Spanning Piazza della Libertà , Via Giovanni XXIII, and Piazza Masi, the festival unfolds across thematic areas that evoke the nostalgic charm of the Tuscan countryside. The heart of the event is the exhibition of vintage tractors and agricultural machinery, accompanied by farm animals and a market featuring local handicrafts and zero-mile products. In the afternoon, the historic tractors parade through the town streets, creating one of the most beloved highlights of the day.
The Farmers' Festival is designed for adults and children alike: entertainment, traditional games, sensory paths, and workshops are held throughout the day. Recurring features include food and wine experiences like the Mangiaggiro—a walk through the Vincian hills with stops at local farms for tastings—and the Little Spring Fair, which offers activities dedicated to folk traditions, musical fairy tales, and handicrafts. Tastings of typical Montalbano products round out a program that blends memory, flavor, and fun.
Set in the town that gave birth to Leonardo da Vinci, the festival offers a unique opportunity to discover a hillside village immersed in the greenery of Tuscany, just a few kilometers from Empoli and Florence. Admission is free, making this an authentic experience for those looking to rediscover the rural roots of this corner of Tuscany.
