«Little and Great Artists under the Stars» is the concert-show with which the FaRe Musica Association concludes its academic year every June in Pesco Sannita, a small town in the province of Benevento, in Campania. This is not just a simple end-of-course recital: the event takes place outdoors in the town square, before a large audience including families, curious onlookers, and visitors from the neighboring towns of the Tammaro and Fortore Valleys.

The title says it all: on stage, the little ones—children following the music preparatory path—perform alongside the great ones, the teenagers and young people involved in ensemble music and singing workshops. The artistic direction is entrusted to M° Simona De Palma, who coordinates the work of the association's teaching staff. In recent years, teachers Gabriele Ciani, Andrea Orlando, Nadia Khomutova, Maria Nilo, and Mara Polcari have worked both on stage and behind the scenes, guiding students throughout their preparation.

A feature highly appreciated by the public is the return of alumni: in the 2026 edition, a choir formed by former students—Chiara Vetere, Chiara Uglia, Mariapia D'Apollonio, and Luca Di Martino—joined the younger ones, serving as a testament to a journey that continues over time and brings different generations into dialogue through music.

A central theme for every edition

What distinguishes this festival from a standard school concert is the choice, each year, of a narrative thread that connects the musical pieces. In 2026, the theme was «The Forms of Love»: a multi-stage journey through dreamed love, family bonds, memory, human relationships, and the most intimate and universal emotions. The repertoire, as per the school's tradition, spans different eras and genres, from Italian song classics to the most recent hits.

Alongside music, other languages find space: storytelling and theatrical monologues, choreographies curated by local groups, and, when the theme requires it, moments dedicated to civil and social issues.

An educational project before a show

The evening is the culmination of months of lessons at the association's headquarters on Via Roma. For children, it is often their first experience on a real stage, with microphones, lights, and an audience; for more experienced students, it is an opportunity to measure themselves against ensemble work, timing, and mutual listening. From this perspective, the festival plays a precious role in an inland area where opportunities for artistic training are limited.

Pesco Sannita is a town of just over two thousand inhabitants perched among the hills of the Sannio, northeast of Benevento. The historic center preserves its medieval layout, the Mother Church of the Most Holy Savior, and the former Orlando Kindergarten, now home to an ornithological collection. It is a town that thrives on community events, from the Sagra della Paccozza in August to the initiatives of the Pro Loco, and the FaRe Musica festival fits naturally into this calendar.

The event is made possible with the support of the Municipal Administration of Pesco Sannita and the Pro Loco, confirming the choral nature of the initiative: an evening that, beyond rewarding the students' work, fills the square and gives the village a moment of collective celebration.
