Cinema comes to the Sabina village

The Fara Film Festival is a cinematic event that brings the historic center of Fara in Sabina to life every July. This stunning medieval village, perched on Colle Buzio between the Sabina Mountains and the Tiber Valley in the province of Rieti, provides a unique backdrop. Now in its seventh edition in 2026, the festival transforms the village's alleys, squares, and historic palaces into a grand open-air stage dedicated to film, music, and local heritage, offering screenings, meetings, concerts, and red carpet events—all with free admission.

A competition dedicated to short films

The heart of the festival is its short film competition, divided into Italian and international sections. The competing entries, with a maximum duration of twenty minutes, are screened at Palazzo Martini and judged by two distinct juries composed of actors, directors, producers, critics, and casting directors. Alongside the competition, the program includes out-of-competition screenings and tributes to classic popular cinema, weaving together emerging talent with the history of the seventh art.

Guests of the 2026 edition

The seventh edition draws major names from Italian cinema and entertainment to the Fara red carpet. The guest of honor is Kim Rossi Stuart, who will receive the Special Award of the Province of Rieti, while Alessandro Haber will be honored with a special lifetime achievement award. Other announced guests include Valeria Solarino and Gabriele Cirilli, joined by actors, voice artists, and content creators who will accompany the audience throughout the three evenings.

More than just cinema: music and flavors of Sabina

The Fara Film Festival is also a prime opportunity to discover the region's excellence. Between red carpet walks and screenings, the program includes tastings of Sabina PDO olive oil, local wines, and typical products, as well as cine-tourism tours of the village, book presentations, and live musical moments, such as the concert by the Italian Navy Band in Piazza Garibaldi. It is a fusion of culture, gastronomy, and landscape that makes the festival a true showcase for the Sabina region in the heart of Lazio.

The event is framed by one of the most evocative villages in Lazio: the historic center of Fara in Sabina, with its Renaissance palaces, churches, and panoramic views of the Tiber Valley, offers a natural setting that enhances every screening and encounter. The festival is produced by Martini Eventi in collaboration with Alfiere Productions, under the artistic direction of Daniele Urciuolo, and is supported by the Lazio Region, the Province of Rieti, and the Municipality of Fara in Sabina.
