Fantastiche Matite - Illustrators' Exhibition

Twenty Years of Fantastic Pencils

In Seregno, in the Province of Monza and Brianza, there is an exhibition that has been celebrating the beauty of illustrated books for children for twenty years: Fantastiche Matite. Curated by the Ettore Pozzoli Civic Library, located in Piazza Monsignor Gandini, the exhibition brings the art of illustration to the city through solo exhibitions dedicated to major names in the field.

The 2025/2026 Edition: Irene Penazzi

The twentieth edition hosts a solo exhibition by illustrator Irene Penazzi, from October 11, 2025, to January 10, 2026. On display are the original artworks from some of her famous silent books dedicated to childhood in nature and memory: "Nel mio giardino il mondo" (In My Garden the World), "Su e giù per le montagne" (Up and Down the Mountains), and "I giorni del mare" (The Days of the Sea), as well as "Un anno tra gli alberi" (A Year Among the Trees), written by Valentina Levrini.

More Than Just an Exhibition

Fantastiche Matite also offers a program of activities centered around illustration:

• Reading groups for adults on illustrated books, focusing on the work of the featured artist;
• Drawing workshops inspired by the exhibited books, designed for children;
• Meetings and discussions on the art of illustration.
